I’d like you to reflect on this for a minute. As you sit there right now reading this article, information is entering your brain through your sense of sight. But you are also hearing various sounds, sensing bodily feelings like the force of the chair touching your bottom and back, the touch of the clothing on your body, and the air temperature and movement on your skin. You are also receiving information through your nose in the form of smells. And of course, you’re receiving information in the form of a variety of tastes on your lips.

And how about the emotional thoughts that you are presently experiencing? That is also information that you’re currently processing. We reside in an information intensive world. Thanks to the Internet, almost anything and everything that a person could ever want to know is only a few clicks of the mouse away.

Recently I read an editorial that said that even in a tranquil and peaceful setting, we are bombarded by sixty thousand stimuli per second. Now that is a lot when you go on to cosider, that’s occurring sixty seconds, out of every minute, and sixty minutes out of every hour. And it goes on twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, week in and week out for the length of our entire life.

And happens to be a big part of the dilemma. We are all suffering from “information overload.” And that makes it very tricky to memorize all of the information that we want to remember or need to recall.

Very often, while we are reading, we realize that our eyes have been traversing the information on the page, while our conscious mind has been off somewhere else on a tangent, even mentally picturing what we are reading about. When we get to the bottom of the page, we become conscious of the fact that our eyes have seen the words, but we have no conscious memory of what we have just read. That is because our mind has been somewhere else thinking about a problem, or working out a scheme.

Today it’s an every day occurrence to hear even young people say things like, “I’m having a senior moment.” No matter what your age, and whether you are a student, part of the work force, or a retired senior citizen, I’m sure that you understand what I’m talking about. In our frantic world it is often extremely difficult to focus your concentration.

WHICH OF THE FOLLOWING SCENARIOS IS YOUR PROBLEM?

A. Your mind begins to wander as you read or study, and then suddenly you appreciate that you do not possess the slightest idea what you have read.

B. When you are in a social environment and you are introduced to new friends, you find that you forget their names as quickly as you hear them.

C. You recall that you have a task to do in another room; but as soon as you start to go to the other room you totally forget what that errand is.

D. You can stay alert and absorb new information. But when you take an exam, “Exam or Test Anxiety” rears its ugly head and creates a mental block, panic or worse and you are not able to call to mind the answers to the questions on the exam that you in reality know and know well.

The largest cause of a person’s failure to focus their concentration is tension. And the largest cause of a mental block to recall is also tension. So it stands to reason that the more relaxed a person is, the better they will be able to focus their concentration, absorb information, and then be able to recall it at a later date.

Today, memory enhancement through hypnosis has become a hot topic. That is to some extent because hypnosis is a brilliant tool for causing relaxation. As a matter of fact, the very fundamental nature of the hypnotic state is relaxation. And as the mind becomes peaceful, the ability to keep the mind focused increases. Similarly, a peaceful mind increases the ability to retain information, and recall it when it is needed.

Self-hypnosis memory enhancement is a fantastic modality for getting rid of exam or test anxiety. There are several hypnotic techniques that can be used to program a student with the positive expectancy of tranquility, self-assurance, and achievement while taking tests.

Anyone can take a course on how to apply self-hypnosis simply and affordably in the privacy of their own home by buying hypnotherapy Mp3s.

You can locate further information on hypnotherapy located on this website. Should you have specific issues surrounding this topic – Call 01384621857 and I will create a bespoke MP3 for you and give you some tips and tricks for exam and test preparation

When we fall in love and experience the first blush of romance, it seems to us that life couldn’t be better. The world seems perfect and rosy, and we cannot bear to think of ever living without our partner. Yet, the reality is that more often than not there is trouble in paradise; after a period of time spent together, the rosy hue dissipates only to be replaced by a sepia toned world. The divorce rates have gone up around the world in the last few years, and break ups are as common as the housefly! Research says that almost 49% of the marriages end up in divorce within the first 7 years in the US; globally, one out of every three married couples is headed for Splitsville. A separation of such a kind is very difficult to handle for any person; feelings of anger, depression, nervous breakdowns and disillusionment are what people experience in general. Though such a situation is a bitter pill to swallow, we have to do it…and do it with dignity. Hypnotherapy for break-ups and divorce can help you pass over this phase with less pain and more self-respect. Here’s how.

After separating with our partner, it is crucial for us to find hope, and to move on. The more you mope around the more harm you bring upon yourself. No one else feels like you do about it do they? It is no mean feat to come through a divorce with your head held high; it can be a Herculean task in times like these to have positive thoughts. To some of us, a break up or divorce can seem like the end of the world, especially if you are the injured party! If it does feel like the end of the world, you are not to blame because it indeed is a very painful situation and one that can let loose a slew of negative emotions. Here’s where hypnotherapy for break-ups and divorce comes in. Hypnotherapy is a mode of relaxation in some ways, a means of soothing your aching heart and caressing your troubled mind. Hypnotherapy for break-ups and divorce helps you draw strength from within yourself, so you can bid goodbye to the anti-depressants and the sleeping pills. It empowers you with self-healing through positive energy and suggestions. In traumatic times such as these, it gives you the direction that you might badly need to kick-start your new life, get back on track.

Hypnotherapy for break-ups and divorce helps you address the negative emotions that fester within you during such times. A session with a responsible and qualified therapist will let you identify the exact feelings and work your way around them. You have to realize that even after a divorce life does go on; if there are children involved their future depends on you. Life can be tough out there, especially with the practicalities that face you after a divorce; however, it is only you who can indeed redeem yourself in such a situation. Remember that. If you keep doing the things you have always done you will undoubtedly get what you’ve always got! Through techniques of relaxation, positive thoughts and auto suggestion you will learn how to cope with the anger & bitterness you are feeling within and without. It will help you reduce your stress and help you put your life back together. Sometimes it happens with us that we can’t see things clearly when we are too close to it, you can even call it blindsiding; with hypnotherapy for break-ups and divorce, you distance yourself from the painful situation and learn to look at it objectively. It could be the best remedy when you are faced with troubled times like these.

Look forward to seeing you!

Hypnotherapists often encounter the same few questions from prospective clients.

What is hypnosis?

The definition of hypnosis is a relaxed, focused state of concentration. To some, the concept of being relaxed and focused at the same time seems an oxymoron, but hypnosis allows you to enter such a state of mind. It was presumed until recently that it was a sleep-like state, or that the mind was unconscious. Actually, there is a state which the brain enters into. It has been discovered on scans during hypnosis that in this state, the mind is highly receptive to suggestion. It is not an unusual or unpleasant state of mind; most people simply feel relaxed. There is an alteration in brain wave activity, called the alpha state. This is a very pleasant, relaxing state, but during which the mind is alert, responsive, and open to a rich sensory experience.

Is hypnosis dangerous?

In the hands of a properly trained individual, hypnosis is not dangerous. There may be some circumstances which would be undesirable with an untrained hypnotist, but nothing serious could happen. If you are seeking hypnotherapy, always ensure that the practitioner is registered with a professional body with a code of conduct that you can review.

Can hypnosis make me do something against my will?

This is one of the biggest myths surrounding hypnosis. Stage hypnotists choose their subjects carefully so that they will have participants who would be willing to act outrageously. You will never do anything, or accept any suggestion that violates your morals or values. If that was possible, hypnotists could make you rob banks and bring back the money. The hypnotists would be rich and rule the world. Clearly, this is not the case. If you visit a hypnotherapist wanting to seek help with a phobia, and approach your session with an open mind and a willingness for the therapy to work, these is a good chance that your session will have a positive outcome.

Can anybody be hypnotised?

Almost everyone can be hypnotised. There are a few exceptions, however. Some examples are educationally subnormal individuals, people suffering from senility, very young children, where holding their attention long enough would be the issue, hard drug addicts under the influence and individuals under the influence of alcohol.

There are different types of amnesia but each involves memory loss. When someone has had a painful past experience part of the post traumatic consequences often include amnesia. Amnesia can also be induced by drugs or caused by physical trauma or disease to the brain. So how does amnesia – a seemingly undesirable state of being – fit into the process of hypnosis?

There are different schools of thought on whether or not inducing amnesia should be a part of hypnotherapy. Hypnosis techniques, which rely heavily on the power of suggestion as a way to encourage new behaviours or break old habits, seldom use amnesia as part of the therapy. The use of amnesia in hypnosis does actually rely on suggestive powers. In this case the suggestion is that the person undergoing hypnosis forgets – at least temporarily.

The human mind is naturally quite forgetful. We get millions of different messages each day, yet only remember what we consciously choose to remember. A good example of the truthfulness of this has been the subject of many experiments in how observant people generally are. In these experiments a person enters a room and causes a disruption drawing attention to himself. When all of the people in the room are asked to describe the person the results are widely varied, even though the people observed him for a few minutes. Hypnosis relies on the mind’s ability to quickly forget that which it doesn’t even know it has experienced.

In a typical hypnosis session one of the final steps is referred to as the amnesia phase. It is designed to scramble the memory. Lasting only a mere minute, it helps the person undergoing hypnosis to avoid over analyzing the suggestions or scripts introduced to them during the session. The amnesia induced during hypnosis is short-lived. The purpose of this is that the information obtained during hypnosis is something you want to remember – subconsciously at first, and then eventually as part of conscious decision making to incorporate this new behaviour into a new positive habit. The reason for forgetting temporarily is to avoid that immediate analysis. Post hypnotic amnesia is also sometimes referred to as function amnesia because of this fact.

Allowing yourself to be hypnotized also involves a willingness to forget.

To prepare for hypnosis make sure you:

1. Have an open mind

2. Are willing to listen to the suggestive powers

3. Come prepared to relax completely

4. Understand you may not immediately remember all that was said during a session, but that the message you need has been delivered

5. Avoid trying to remember and analyze all that you’ve heard

Understanding that amnesia is an important and effective part of the whole process of hypnosis will help you get more from each and every session. Come prepared with an open mind and enjoy the experience. You don’t have to remember it all for it to make real differences and changes in your life.

Hypnosis and hypnotherapy can be very helpful if you suffer from stress and anxiety, obesity, anorexia, insomnia, or other related conditions. In this quick guide, you’ll learn how helpful these can be in achieving your life goals….

Hypnosis has been around for thousands of years. From ancient Egyptian times even through today, hypnotism has been used in religion, medicine, mental therapy, and even entertainment. Patients often undergo hypnosis to help release stress or to overcome certain challenges in their lives such as smoking habits, obesity, anorexia, bulimia, insomnia, depression, and many other conditions.

Hypnotherapy is similar to psychotherapy except it is undertaken when the patient is in a state of hypnosis. Hypnotherapy is meant to help modify the patient’s behaviour, attitude, and emotional state for positive life changes. Hypnotherapy is usually performed by a qualified professional hypnotherapist. In many cases, the hypnotherapist will train the patient in self-hypnosis so the patient can benefit from hypnotherapy at any time when needed.

What Happens During Hypnosis?

Before the actual hypnosis begins, both the patient and the clinical hypnotherapist agree to the process. Hypnosis cannot be forced on the patient against their will. There will usually be an informal talk between the two with questions and answers as well as an explanation of what is about to take place.

Next is the actual hypnosis. The hypnotherapist leads with his or her voice to gently guide the patient into a state of relaxation in mind and body. The patient may appear to be asleep, but is awake enough to be aware of what’s going on and what is said – especially in the parts of the mind that can effect beneficial changes – the subconscious. The patient is led into comforting, pleasant thoughts and begins to daydream about happy times or hopes for the future.

When under hypnosis, the patient often feels very relaxed, heavy or weightless even. It’s similar to the warm comfort of a bed when one is very sleepy. The patient can terminate the session at any time if he or she begins to feel uncomfortable. When the session ends, the patient is able to ask questions and discuss the experience of hypnosis.

Hypnosis Today

Today, there are many different ways people can enjoy the benefits of hypnotherapy. They don’t even have to leave their homes to take advantage of hypnosis. There are Internet sites, including this one, that offer guides and tips on hypnosis, along with hypnosis training for those who want to become a trained hypnotist.

For self-hypnosis, there are great products available here, such as hypnosis MP3s for instance. With these tools, a person is able to enjoy the long-term benefits of hypnosis without paying high costs to visit a qualified hypnotherapist. However you may, after listening to one of the products, want a face to face consultation, this the hypnotherapist will be glad to do.

These products are very helpful when times of stress arise or when you just needs a boost of self-confidence. They are fast, easy, safe and effective tools to help you tackle common life situations. On hypnosis MP3s, the messages are positive and in some cases subliminal, offering exact trance-inducing frequencies. The hypnosis MP3 files are downloadable onto an iPod or MP3 player so you can take it with you wherever they go. Please dont listen whilst driving or any other situation that requires your FULL attention though.

Hypnosis and hypnotherapy are not cure-all solution, but they can be helpful in renewing your positive outlook on life and learning to overcome some of life’s obstacles.

New research has revealed more than a quarter (28%) of respondents wait until people leave the cubicles before using the toilet while one in four (25%) wait until anyone who entered with them leaves until they will emerge.

The Great Loo Taboo Survey of 3,000 British adults commissioned by Lepicol, a three in one combination of gentle fibres, probiotic cultures and natural prebiotics, revealed the toilet tactics of the nation with 26% of British adults flushing the toilet to hide the sound of their activity and nearly one in three using toilet paper to reduce the noise.

Although people prefer to be alone in the toilet, many use the time to stay in touch with the outside world. An alarming 31% of respondents admitted to using their mobile phones to text, surf the net, update their Facebook and check their emails whilst on the loo.

Furthermore, the research showed that the UK population go to extraordinary lengths to avoid public toilets. 16% of people were unwilling to eat while they are out to ensure they do not have to use public facilities, with men (20%) admitting to this more than women (14%). This is further echoed by the fact that over a quarter of respondents (27%) won’t eat food shortly before leaving the house.

When people do leave the house, 15% researched facilities before accepting event invitations in order to know what they are like and have the option to refuse. And once at the event, one in five plans a bathroom route in case of an urgent need to use the toilet.

Peter Cartwright, a microbiologist and expert on digestive disorders says “Bowel movements are a natural process for us all, however there is a common stigma attached to it. Research suggests forty five per cent of the UK population have experienced IBS or ongoing digestive health issues at some point in their lives, so it appears that as a nation we have to become more comfortable with discussing digestive health which could help reduce the fear of going in public places”.

“For people with ongoing digestive health issues, try using a natural probiotic, which helps maintain a healthy bowel”.

Dr Nick Read, Chair of The IBS Network says, “We have always known that people are embarrassed by their bowel function but perhaps until now we had not realised the extent of this. In other cultures and in previous times, having knowledge about one’s defaecatory habit meant one had control over them. However it seems modern British beliefs may be harder to shift”.

New research reveals 16% of IBS sufferers claim their tummy troubles are so severe it disrupts between two to three hours of their daily activity. This amounts to almost six days a month or over two months a year!

The Great Loo Taboo Survey of 3,000 British adults, commissioned by Lepicol, a three in one combination of gentle fibres, probiotic cultures and natural prebiotics, found an astonishing 45% of people have experienced IBS or ongoing digestive health issues, with 10% more women (50% of respondents) affected than men (40%).

On top of the 16% of people who are disrupted for a month a year, a further 30% claim to be disrupted between two to three hours a week. Interestingly, of all regions, people in Wales (25%) claim to be most effected on a daily basis, closely followed by East Midlands (23%) and the North West (18%).

With our current economic climate it’s no wonder the research has found that nearly two thirds (65%) of people believe stress is the number one cause for ongoing digestive health issues and IBS. This was closely followed by people’s diet (56%), family history (16%) and alcohol consumption (15%).

The report aims to highlight the taboos associated with digestive health issues and shines light on the daily challenges faced by sufferers. Even though digestive health issues are having a clear affect on people’s lives, the research reveals we are a nation of silent sufferers. Although nearly half of the British population have experienced digestive health issues, a massive one in five people revealed they have never discussed their digestive health with anyone at all. Of those willing to discuss it, 70% were happy discussing this with their GP, followed by their family (50%) and then partner (48%).

Luckily there is help at hand and the British population are keen to try new ways to ease their symptoms. Nearly 1 in 5 respondents would consider taking alternative medicine treatments, like acupuncture and homeopathy, whilst a higher percentage (41%) are open to taking natural food supplements to help ease their digestive symptoms.

Peter Cartwright, a microbiologist and expert on digestive disorders says, “With 45% of Brits suffering with IBS or ongoing digestive health issues it is important to be aware of ways to help counteract this as best as possible. There are many ways people can help maintain a healthy bowel. I recommend using a natural probiotic to ensure that the environment in your digestive tract is stable, which goes a long way to aid your health and wellbeing”.

Dr Nick Read, Chair of The IBS Network says, “This research suggests that among a random sample of people, IBS may be much more prevalent than previously thought. According to these findings, most people acknowledge that stress is the most common cause with diet coming a close second. This underlines that mood and food may interact to cause bowel upset. So is IBS a disorder of life? Doctors may not be aware of the extent of IBS because as this study suggests people are ashamed of it and prefer to suffer in silence”.

Patients assigned to hypnosis had 6 sessions over a 3-month period, with therapy designed to help them decrease pain and anxiety. At 1 year, treatment was successful in 85% of the hypnotherapy group compared with 25% of the standard-care group.

Participants in the original study were asked to participate in a long-term follow-up study in which they kept weekly pain diaries and rated somatic complaints and quality of life on standardized questionnaires.

Five years later, 68% of children in the hypnosis group were still largely free of abdominal pain compared with 20% of children who received standard care. Pain intensity scores were 2.9 (0 = no pain) and 7.7, respectively, in the hypnotherapy and standard care groups, and pain frequency scores were lower in the hypnotherapy group (2.3 vs 7.1). Patients in the hypnotherapy group also reported fewer nongastrointestinal complaints compared with those who received standard care. No significant differences in quality of life, doctor’s visits, or missed days of school or work were found between the 2 groups.

The long-lasting improvements achieved with hypnotherapy led the researchers to conclude that it is a highly valuable therapeutic option for children with FAP or IBS.

Pure Matters, a retailer of premium health and wellness products, is joining with physicians, health care providers and patients who suffer from Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) in recognizing April as Irritable Bowel Syndrome Awareness Month. The company is also launching Complete Biotic, a new product with a proprietary formula consisting of probiotics combined with a prebiotic compound to promote gastrointestinal health and regularity as well as immune system health and overall wellness. In response to consumer demand, the product will be made available nationwide beginning today.

As many as 20 percent of the adult population, or one in five Americans, have IBS symptoms according to the National Institute of Health (NIH). Although IBS is prevalent, many people are unaware that the symptoms they are struggling to live with actually indicate a medically recognized disorder. IBS affects men, women, young and old with symptoms that range from pain and discomfort in the abdomen to bloating, constipation and/or diarrhea. Some common IBS treatments include: changes in eating, diet and nutrition, medicine, psychological counseling and probiotics.

“With April being IBS Awareness Month, we thought it was a great time to make our Complete Biotic product available and to also begin talking to our customers about the incredible importance of a healthy digestive tract,” notes Steven Rindner, CEO of Pure Matters. “Complete Biotic combines both probiotics and prebiotics to create a comprehensive supplement that promotes gastrointestinal health, the immune system, overall wellness and regularity. And that’s important whether you suffer from IBS or if you just want to make sure you are taking care of the engine for your body – your digestive tract.”

Pure Matters Complete Biotic — How & Why It Works:

This supplement contains clinically researched ingredients, as well as soluble fiber, and allows healthy bacterial strains to flourish in the intestinal tract while limiting the growth of bacteria that can be harmful to human health. Complete Biotic features a formula called Lactowise®, with a prebiotic and probiotic mixture that has been clinically proven to improve digestive health and immunity. This combination, called synbiotics, supports the healthy bacteria in the intestinal tract that not only aid in digestion, but also keep the growth of harmful bacteria in check.

These good bacteria, called probiotics, are microorganisms that can fight off infections as well; they make up about 80% of the immune system in humans. The healthy bacteria supported by Complete Biotic play a role in digestion, vitamin B production, and in making minerals and various other nutrients the body needs to stay healthy. Physical parts of the bacteria, like the cell wall, also help support the immune system and suppress inflammation.

Intended to be a supplement, Pure Matters® Complete Biotic remains fresh at room temperature with no need for refrigeration and can be easily stored for long periods of time. Complete Biotic, and other products like it, support gastrointestinal, immune, skin, liver, and dental health.

Pure Matters Advisory Board member Shyam Parikh, a licensed pharmacist who has spent over a decade recommending pharmaceutical and nutritional-based treatments to patients, says, “The benefits of healthy bacteria in the intestines have long been studied, and this new product is ideal for maintaining good health and providing relief from a variety of ailments. Almost anyone can benefit from the probiotic properties of this proprietary formula.”

According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, National Digestive Diseases Information Clearinghouse (NDDIC), studies have found that probiotics, taken in large enough amounts, improve symptoms of IBS. Pure Matters urges IBS sufferers to talk to their heath care providers before using probiotics to treat IBS.

Related Products:

In addition to its probiotics and prebiotics, Pure Matters sells a variety of products that support immune system health, such as Immunity Gold. The company also carries products that promote heart health, normal sleep, and weight loss. Pure Matters has also developed a proprietary beauty compound with collagen and alpha lipoic acid, as well as high performance multi-vitamins and energy boosting supplements – all of which can be purchased through thePure Matters website.

Where to get it:

Pure Matters® Complete Biotic is now available through the company’s website, where there are also comprehensive resources such as health-related articles and blogs.
Follow our tips to help reduce IBS problems

Irritable bowel syndrome – or IBS – affects up to one in three people at some point in their lives.

It can develop at any time but it usually appears first during early adulthood and symptoms include abdominal pain, bloating, wind, diarrhoea and constipation.

Three times more women than men get IBS, which is probably due to hormones.

But there are some changes you can make to manage the condition, which include tackling your diet, fitness and stress levels.

Supplements and natural remedies can also help.

1 Learn how to eat

The first step to controlling IBS is eating properly. And not just what you eat, but when and how. Eat little and often and at regular times.

Your digestive system will then get into a good routine and eating smaller amounts will avoid bloating and diarrhoea.

Also eat slowly. Gulping food quickly can make you swallow air, which results in wind and bloating. Chew well and drink lots of water.

2 Change your pattern

Eat your biggest meals earlier in the day and have a light evening meal. Also have foods that are harder to digest like raw fruit and vegetables before 4pm.

3 Soothe yourself

Different herbs and supplements can ease the symptoms of IBS. Calcium supplements are thought to counteract diarrhoea as it slows down gut contractions.

Experts recommend linseed for constipation, while artichoke can help digestive complaints, especially after eating fatty foods.

Finally, taking 500mg of turmeric extract once a day can also help because of its anti-inflammatory properties.

4 Keep on moving

Regular exercise can reduce bloating and constipation in IBS sufferers. Even 30 minutes of moderate exercise like brisk walking or yoga five times a week will help.

5 Peppermint oil

Taken in tea, oil, herb or capsule form, peppermint oil can help alleviate symptoms by relaxing the intestinal muscles.

Peppermint tea bags are readily available or just add a few drops of oil to half a glass of warm water.

6 Try different things

There are a number of complementary therapies that might ease symptoms, including reflexology, aromatherapy, massage, acupressure and yoga.

Find one that suits you.

7 Be prepared

Many sufferers dread going out for meals for fear the stress will trigger symptoms. But planning ahead is key.

First, find out where the loo is as soon as you arrive so you know you can get there easily if you need to.

Try to have a look at the menu before you go so you can carefully pick out the safest foods for you. Lots of restaurants have their menus online.

If you’re afraid of things going wrong, take some preventative medication before you go out.

Don’t overeat. Finally, relax as stress could risk an attack.

8 Black pepper

It might not seem that powerful, but black pepper can make a big difference.

Black pepper oil soothes cramps and relieves wind and also stimulates a sluggish digestive system.

9 Breathe slowly

Some people swallow air when they’re anxious, adding to the problem of wind and bloating.

Learn to control this by practising abdominal breathing.

Sit comfortably with your shoulders lowered and relaxed. Breathe in slowly through both nostrils and count to five, expanding your tummy.

Hold for five seconds and then exhale to a count of five, drawing your stomach in.

10 Sleep tight

Too little sleep or poor sleep has been shown to have a direct impact on the severity of IBS, so avoid caffeine later in the day.
