Are You Susceptible To Hypnosis?

Are You Susceptible To Hypnosis?

A person’s susceptibility to hypnosis is dependent on several factors. Whether these factors work together or oppose each other is entirely in the hands of the individual being hypnotised.

There are factors that are outside of anyone’s control. They come down to the individual makeup of each individual person. For instance, if someone is naturally susceptible to suggestion in their everyday life, they likely will carry along that susceptibility in the hypnosis process as well. Everyone is susceptible to some degree, but this is one of the variables that will contribute to a person’s likelihood of achieving hypnosis very easily.

But there are varying degrees of depth of hypnosis, and hypnotherapy doesn’t require a deep state of hypnosis or ‘sleep’. It can be beneficial at varying levels of depth. The self hypnosis CDs and downloads that I have produced are designed to take someone from a completely awake state into some degree of hypnosis. The deeper they let themselves go the better they feel and the better they feel the deeper they go. Deep relaxation and release of the days pressures can be achieved.

Susceptibility to suggestion is also impacted by repetition. The more you hear a message, the more likely you will be to able accept it is as fact, to buy into it, whether consciously or not. This is also true in everyday life. Take advertising for instance. It doesn’t influence you of course not…What really did make you purchase that new brand of washing powder or Car?

Some people take to hypnosis quite effortlessly, while others need a bit more practice, to help them let go. Their degree of susceptibility might be influenced by other conditions, how relaxed are they what […]

Your Guide To Hypnosis

Your Guide To Hypnosis

There are many stories about hypnosis and hypnotherapy being dangerous, turning people into chickens, people not being able to wake up, and unscrupulous hypnotists exploiting their ‘vulnerable’ patients. However there are many people who are adamant that it has helped change their lives, some from Dudley, Tipton, Wolverhampton and much further afield – I know of for sure. I have helped them succeed in their goals. Millions of people swear that it has helped them with many issues such as weight loss, quitting smoking, other addictions, confidence, phobias, stress, success, IBS, and many more issues.

Many people are missing out on this powerful, yet very safe therapeutic tool because they are too afraid to use it. I hope to dispel these fears by answering these common questions about hypnotherapy right here and now!.

Can I be hypnotised? Most people can go into a hypnotic trance. The only types of people that cannot be hypnotised are … 1. Those suffering from psychosis or a thought disorder 2. A person with a low IQ 3. A person who does not want to be hypnotised. It is very easy to resist hypnosis if you want to.
What is a hypnotic trance? It is a normal and natural state that most of us experience several times a day without even knowing it. It commonly happens when people are driving. Have you ever driven somewhere and not really remembered the journey?, I have just missed my junction. It also often occurs when reading a book or watching TV. Sometimes you can be so absorbed in the book or TV programme that you are not consciously aware that someone is talking to you, or even where you are sat. Hypnosis […]

Why do I need Help?

Why do I need Help?

Well let’s have a look at life briefly to establish Why do I need Help?
We are all born with a clean memory. We become what we have experienced to a degree. As we go through life we have good and bad experiences with those around us and things that happen to us, or, our closest family.

Problems in human beings do not necessarily emerge overnight. As I have already said they are an accumulation of experiences. Things we put into our life’s rucksack if you like. They tend to evolve over time. Some things we deal with satisfactorily, others may be firewalled because they are too big to deal right there and then, or, just too painful at that time of the event. Unresolved emotions or feelings from long ago which have slipped from conscious into subconscious memory, all may have an impact on your current ‘being’ and your perceived feeling of wellness.

Childhood trauma, stressful relationships, work issues, bereavement, divorce, and accidents, war, sudden shocks, all can have an impact on the whole that is an individual human being. Mind body and soul to some can feel the effect internally as well as externally.

When problems do occur many people tend to assume that they will just go away, or disappear if we ‘don’t go there’ as we feel the body has its own innate healing processes. All will be well, they think if they ignore things. But if you overlook problems they may later manifest themselves in physical ills later in life such as – frequent colds, headaches, migraines, stomach disorders , IBS, heart attack and stroke etc.

These physical reactions may be signals that your body is sending out to tell […]

New Figures about British Phobias

Figures about British Phobias

The National Council for Hypnotherapy Responds to New Figures about British Phobias

According to the International Business Times, half of adults living in the UK suffer phobias with most popular topics being listed by one third of participants as heights, one in seven stated they were afraid of flying and one in ten of spiders. The study measured how affected sufferers were by their phobias and one in ten said it had affected relationships and a further more worrying 7 percent said that it had cost them their job.

The study looked at over 2,000 people and aimed to highlight the importance of tackling phobias head on before they truly affect a lifestyle.

An effective way to solve phobias is to use hypnotherapy. The National Council for Hypnotherapy members have helped hundreds of thousands of clients conquer their fears and phobias through establishing the root of the phobia and working to help the mind re-think the way such topics are approached. As one of the UK’s most established hypnotherapy directories, the NCH gives clients the chance to find local hypnotherapists in their area throughout the British Isles.

A spokesperson from the Council added, ‘As this study highlights phobias are extremely common in the UK – from small fears of spiders to more extreme phobias such as fear of large crowds, the figures suggest that half of adults experience some sort of phobia in their adult life. Hypnotherapy can work towards eliminating these fears by changing the way the mind thinks about the trigger for the phobia.’

The National Council for Hypnotherapy continues to follow health related […]

I love labour – midwife tells of pain free childbirth

Mary McCallan is pictured with her son Arthur and daughter Minnie.

A Derry based midwife is pioneering a new approach to childbirth – encouraging women to use the power of hypnotherapy to help them through the trials and tribulations of labour and delivery.

Mary McCallan, who is based at Altnagelvin Hospital, has recently trained to become Northern Ireland’s first Natal Hypnotherapy practitioner and plans to bring her newly developed skills into the labour ward with her.

The mum of two speaks from experience when she extols the virtues of hypnotherapy in labour, having taken this approach during the birth of her two children Arthur and Minnie.

And when she goes into the labour ward again this summer to deliver baby number three, she will be bringing all those valuable skills with her to help her through the experience.

“I’m not great at pregnancy,” Mary told the ‘Journal’ – “But I look forward to labour. I have no fear of it.

“It’s such a special time that I’m looking forward in getting into that car, heading up the road to have my baby.

“I think it’s such a shame that so many women go into the experience terrified and afraid of the pain and what it might be like.”

Mary said she was inspired to look into Natal Hypnotherapy after seeing a number of women come into her delivery room who embraced the techniques.

“There is just such a difference in women who have researched and practised hypnotherapy. There are a number of methods out there – but the common factor is that women who have prepared in this way for […]

More people die from being overweight and obese than from being underweight

More people die from being overweight and obese than from being underweight

Globally more people die from being overweight and obese than from being underweight warns The Surrey Institute of Clinical Hypnotherapy

According to a report published by The European Association for the Study of Obesity in April, approximately 65% of the world’s population inhabit countries where being overweight and obese kills more people than being underweight.

According to the World Health Organisation the prevalence of obesity has tripled since the 1980s. In many European countries 50% of the population are overweight or obese. In the UK the latest figures from The Academy of Medical Royal Colleges show that two thirds of adults are obese or overweight (BMI over 25).

In 2008, globally 1.5 billion adults aged 20 and over, were overweight with an estimated 500 million adults worldwide being obese (over 200 million men and nearly 300 million women).

The World Health Organisation has confirmed obesity as the largest health problem globally in adults, which is becoming a more serious problem than malnutrition across the globe.

In the majority of European countries, being overweight and obese are thought to be responsible for about 80% of cases of type 2 diabetes, 35% of heart disease and 55% of high blood pressure among adults.

Although this problem seems to be growing rapidly there is a simple solution. For the majority of people losing weight is about behavioural change and the reason most people seem unable to achieve this is that they cannot maintain the behavioural change long term.

Hypnotherapy for weight loss not only helps people make the initial behavioural change but, as a rule, the changes that are made tend to be long lasting. This allows weight loss clients to get used […]

Proposed structure of local health delivery in Dudley and beyond

Proposed structure of local health delivery in Dudley and beyond

Healthwatch Dudley & Dudley CCG  – Ideas for future structure of local health delivery

Proposed structure of local health delivery in Dudley and beyond – Why? The structure of healthcare in the community should in my opinion should be reviewed. I have had conversations with The King’s Fund regarding health care provision for the future in the UK. I have voiced these ideas to try to stimulate dialogue, but getting to the decision makers in very near impossible. Making me believe the top down approach to decision making despite the portrayal of a bottom up approach to changes in local and national NHS Service. The proposed ‘Phoenix structure” is to utilise local schools and redundant buildings that have for whatever reason become redundant.

Why a rethink?

The current community health centre is just that, a health centre. what I propose is a centre with a health section but encompassing all the disciplines listed below. Stress is the foundation for many illnesses and if eliminated or substantially reduced, could bring about fundamental change to the local communities, their Health and wellbeing and wealth to the country ultimately. GDP suffers due to the amount of hours lost to stress alone, let alone the additional burden of all the more serious implicated illnesses caused by stress. These in my opinion could be alleviated if not eliminated for the majority by introducing a centre that was multi faceted.

These would have a primary wellness role. The incorporation of suitably qualified ‘Complementary’ therapies along with the utilisation of of the premises by multi charitable organisations after normal business hours, after all […]
