Your Guide To Hypnosis

Your Guide To Hypnosis

There are many stories about hypnosis and hypnotherapy being dangerous, turning people into chickens, people not being able to wake up, and unscrupulous hypnotists exploiting their ‘vulnerable’ patients. However there are many people who are adamant that it has helped change their lives, some from Dudley, Tipton, Wolverhampton and much further afield – I know of for sure. I have helped them succeed in their goals. Millions of people swear that it has helped them with many issues such as weight loss, quitting smoking, other addictions, confidence, phobias, stress, success, IBS, and many more issues.

Many people are missing out on this powerful, yet very safe therapeutic tool because they are too afraid to use it. I hope to dispel these fears by answering these common questions about hypnotherapy right here and now!.

Can I be hypnotised? Most people can go into a hypnotic trance. The only types of people that cannot be hypnotised are … 1. Those suffering from psychosis or a thought disorder 2. A person with a low IQ 3. A person who does not want to be hypnotised. It is very easy to resist hypnosis if you want to.
What is a hypnotic trance? It is a normal and natural state that most of us experience several times a day without even knowing it. It commonly happens when people are driving. Have you ever driven somewhere and not really remembered the journey?, I have just missed my junction. It also often occurs when reading a book or watching TV. Sometimes you can be so absorbed in the book or TV programme that you are not consciously aware that someone is talking to you, or even where you are sat. Hypnosis […]

PTSD – Are you Traumatised and Stressed?

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder isn’t an exclusive for war veterans! Anyone can have it given they have been in the wrong place at the wrong time so to speak. That’s not dispelling or minimising the after affects of war either.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder can affect people who have been in natural disasters, air crashes, boat sinking ‘s, in fact accidents and catastrophic events even a car accident PSTD can affect you.

Here are some facts about PTSD.

It’s natural to be afraid when you’re in danger. It’s natural to be upset when something bad happens to you or your loved ones or even someone you know. But if you feel afraid and upset weeks or months later, it’s time to talk with your doctor. You might have post-traumatic stress disorder.

What is post-traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD?

PTSD is a real illness I’ll make that quite clear. You can get PTSD after living through or experiencing or seeing a dangerous event, such as war, a hurricane, or bad accident. PTSD makes you feel stressed and afraid even after the ‘REAL’ danger is over. It affects your life and the people around you.

If you have PTSD, you can get treatment and feel better.

Who gets PTSD?

  1. PTSD can happen to anyone at any age.
  2. Children get PTSD too.
  3. Witnessing domestic violence could trigger it
  4. You don’t have to be physically hurt to get PTSD. You can get it after you see other people, such as a friend or family member, get hurt.

What causes PTSD?

Living through or seeing something that’s upsetting and dangerous can cause PTSD. This can include:

  1. Being a victim of or seeing violence
  2. The death or serious illness of a loved one
  3. War or combat
  4. Car accidents and plane crashes
  5. Hurricanes, tornadoes, and house & bush fires
  6. Violent crimes, like a […]

Telephone Hypnosis

Telephone Hypnosis

No matter where you live, no matter if its in a remote community or in a big city in the UK or overseas you can always reach therapists who is skilled in working with your type of problem. Technology has certainly brought the world to your doorstep. At one time it could have been be costly and very difficult to get the right help you need. You may of had to travel far to locate and visit a therapist who specialises in what condition or issue that needed a resolution. That’s until now. That is why we offer you the opportunity to have hypnosis over the phone and via Skype.

Simply log on to Skype and search for HypnoFix

Remote telephone  hypnosis offers my clients a session of hypnosis whilst they are in the privacy and comfort of their own home, giving them an enhanced sense of control over the process. People sometimes feel more relaxed in their own environment instead of a therapy room. This can be especially helpful for those who lack self confidence to leave the house or home and need help but may not have the ability to go to a therapist directly, such as agoraphobics and those with eating disorders, chronic IBS patients who cant be away from the bathroom or problematic compulsive habits who need support.

Sessions can be arranged to suit. Like all the therapy conducted by HypnoFix, it is tailored to the client’s needs and we treat people according to their specific needs.

An article in New Scientist Magazine from 29 January 2002 claims that a small UK study suggests tele-hypnosis can be even more effective than […]

IBS, Scampi Fries and maggots – weird phobias, addictions and illnesses that hypnosis has cured

Weird phobias

IBS, Scampi Fries and maggots – weird phobias, addictions and illnesses that hypnosis has cured

A British woman has lost four stone after being hypnotised into thinking she had a gastric-band fitted. Hypnotism is clearly powerful stuff as this woman’s weight-loss campaign and the following tales prove.

Chicken Nuggets

After 18 years of eating nothing but chicken nuggets and chips, a student was last year weaned off her unhealthy diet by a hypnotherapist and started to eat vegetables and pasta. Since she was two-years-old Carla Laban was violently sick after every meal unless it was chicken nuggets, but now she is starting to enjoy other foods.

IBS
Hypnotherapy may be able to cure irritable bowel syndrome after trials showed it has a 70 per cent success rate. Doctors claim the mind relaxing technique combats the condition, which causes constipation, diarrhoea, cramps and nausea. The treatment is so successful that there is an 18-month waiting list of people lining up to try the therapy at Manchester’s Wythenshawe Hospital.

Sex
According to Australian psychologist Dr Janet Hall hypnosis can help cure women of sex phobias such as the fear of sperm and vaginismus, a fear of intercourse. “I’ve found that with hypnosis you can get them to rehearse the sex act in the safety of their own imagination,” Dr Hall told a conference in Sydney.

Dentistry
Last year a man who could not afford a dentist’s bill had two rotten teeth and roots removed without an anaesthetic, thanks to hypnosis. Leslie Mahon from Colchester said: “It was incredible. There is no worse pain than that inflicted by dentists but I didn’t feel any.”

Fruit

A woman who was so sacred of fruit that she couldn’t bear to have a fruit bowl in the house was cured […]

Alternative Therapies

Alternative Therapies

BBC Examines Alternative Therapies

Imagine having your dentist pull your teeth out and drill into your jaw with no anaesthetic – just someone muttering in your ear about being on the beach.   Sounds alarming?  Welcome to the extraordinary world of hypnotherapy.

Half a million people in England use hypnotherapy every year.  It’s claimed it can help with smoking, obesity, tinnitus, weight loss, phobias, allergies, anxiety and even breast enlargement.  What do we know about hypnotherapy and hypnosis?  And how are scientists trying to find out about how it works and its effectiveness?

In the first in a new series, Professor Kathy Sykes, Professor of Science and Society at Bristol University, embarks on a personal and scientific journey to explore three popular alternative therapies: reflexology, meditation and hypnotherapy.

Travelling across the UK, Europe and over the Atlantic to Montreal, Kathy Sykes, in a journey that is at times funny, intimate, moving and revealing, she follows patients who are pinning their hopes on hypnotherapy.  There is Richard, the policeman, who wants to quit smoking; Nicola, who wants to eat less chocolate; and Mandy, who wants teeth implants without anaesthetic. Kathy herself has a go at being hypnotised as she tries to understand more about the science behind the hypnotic “trance.”

She meets hypnotherapists, and also mainstream scientists, who are looking inside our brains to try and unravel what goes on during hypnosis.  She meets Professor Peter Whorwell in Manchester who is pioneering the use of hypnotherapy for people suffering from the symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome.

A mixture of serious science and personal journey – Alternative Therapies is intriguing viewing for anyone interested […]

Hypnosis for smoking cessation sees strong results

Cardiac patients more motivated to quit smoking than patients with respiratory disease

Hospitalized patients who smoke may be more likely to quit smoking through the use of hypnotherapy than patients using other smoking cessation methods. A new study presented at CHEST 2007, the 73rd annual international scientific assembly of the American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP), shows that smoking patients who participated in one hypnotherapy session were more likely to be nonsmokers at 6 months compared with patients using nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) alone or patients who quit “cold turkey”. The study also shows that patients admitted to the hospital with a cardiac diagnosis are three times more likely to quit smoking at 6 months than patients admitted with a pulmonary diagnosis.

“Our results showed that hypnotherapy resulted in higher quit rates compared with NRT alone,” said Faysal Hasan, MD, FCCP, North Shore Medical Center, Salem, MA. “Hypnotherapy appears to be quite effective and a good modality to incorporate into a smoking cessation program after hospital discharge.”

Dr. Hasan and colleagues from North Shore Medical Center and Massachusetts General Hospital compared the quit rates of 67 smoking patients hospitalized with a cardiopulmonary diagnosis. All patients were approached about smoking cessation and all included in the study were patients who expressed a desire to quit smoking. At discharge, patients were divided into four groups based on their preferred method of smoking cessation treatment: hypnotherapy (n=14), NRT (n=19), NRT and hypnotherapy (n=18), and a group of controls who preferred to quit “cold turkey” (n=16). All patients received self-help brochures. The […]
